The EFAC7075 Alumni Community in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia) conducted a Mini Get-together on Saturday 15 Dec 2018 to host two overseas guests, Rohan Abeyaratne (USA) and Gemunu Abayasekera (Sri Lanka).
Participants from Brisbane were Sam Fernando, Jayasiri Gunaratne, Anura Abeygunawardane, Daya Wickremaratna, Ashanatha Goonetilleke and Derrick Fernando (2 yrs senior at EFAC). Other Australian residents who joined the Mini GTG are Ranjan Abayasekera (South Australia), Mano Manoharan (Sydney) and Senevi Abayakoon (Melbourne).
The Mini GTG commenced in Sam Fernando’s residence (Kuraby, Brisbane) and participants proceeded in the first leg of the day to a quiet town, Canungra, 100kms south of Brisbane where a sumptous Morning Tea was served in the local park.
In the next leg, participants proceeded to a natural marvel, The Natural Bridge in Springbrook Natural Park where an hour was spent observing a geological wonder in a solid rock formation.
Daya Wickremaratne hosted lunch in his Robina residence, the menu consisting a fabulous spread of Sri Lankan dishes.
Following lunch, participants proceeded to the Currumbin Rock Pools for a dip in the water; the dip was confined to wetting the legs due to late hours and age-related fatigue! The day ended with a visit to a nearby reservoir which feeds potable water to Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The Organisers had designed the travel routes to capture much of Queensland’s natural habitats and the glorious landscape.
It was a wonderful day with many of the Group meeting with the overseas participants for the first time since 1975.
On 22 Dec 2018, a group of EFAC7075 Alumni in Melbourne consisting Preethi Jayasundera, Senavi Abayakoon, Vanniasingham Thuraisingham, Adikari and Bandu Gamage hosted Rohan Abeyaratne; photos attached.
